Our exclusive quarries were discovered by the Emperor Augustus who loved the Pietra Imperiale and used it for the amazing buildings of Pompeii, the necropolis of Minturnae, part of the Via Appia, theatres and mausoleums. Later it was also chosen to build the imposing Abbey of Montecassino. These works, centuries later, are incredibly resistant to the impact of time, preserving all their splendour.

MINTURNAE
An important Roman city that dates back to the fourth century B.C. that was the object of a radical urban transformation in the Augustan age. From a city of tuff, it was transformed into a city of marble with the monumentalization of the urban stretch of Via Appia by means of arcades, the construction of a temple dedicated to Augustus, a new square and the rebuilding of the majestic theater.
VIA APPIA
The Via Appia is the quintessential Roman road, it is no coincidence it was defined by the poet Stazio in the first century BC as the Regina Viarum (queen of the roads) and is considered one of the greatest engineering works of the ancient world. The Pietra Imperiale was used because during the night hours, with the glow of the moon and stars, this stone lights up making it visible even from a long distance, playing a directional role and allowing night travelers to follow the right path without running the risk of getting lost;
ABBEY OF MONTECASSINO
In 529 Saint Benedict chose the mountain of Cassino to build what would later become the most famous and admired abbey in the world. Every day thousands of pilgrims and tourists silently visit all the corners of this complex, also known as the “Lighthouse of Western Civilization”, built with our Pietra Imperiale.
